Episode 42. FROM HELL (2001)

The case was never closed. Theories have circulated for decades, but none is definitive. The question lingers on from one century to the next, to the next... Who is lamer: Dru or Dave? We'll let YOU, the listener, be the judge, on this episode of 24 Panels Per Second, in which we explore From Hell in both its graphic novel and cinematic manifestations. Other questions emerge... Whose text offers a more compelling telling of the Jack the Ripper case: Alan Moore/Eddie Campbell's or the Hughes Brothers'? The answer to this one is a little more cut and dry.

Preview Post: FROM HELL

It is one of the most notorious unsolved cases in all of history, a series of brutal murders whose perpetrator is known only as Jack the Ripper. Since the original murders, the case has taken a particular place in pop culture, and has been examined over and over again in various forms and styles. And in the next 24 Panels Per Second, Dru and Dave are going to take a look at a feature film loosely adapted from a sprawling, complex comic about the case. The title? From Hell.

One Shots: BULLET TO THE HEAD (2013)

This year, we're adding a new recurring feature to the 24 Panels Per Second podcast: ONE SHOTS, featuring reviews of comic book films that are in theatres now! Regrettably, we're kicking off the series with a bonafide box office tank: Walter Hill's Bullet to the Head, starring Sylvester Stallone and based on a graphic novel by Matz and Colin Wilson. To add insult to gun-would-related cranial injury, the movie wasn't even playing where Dave could go see it, leaving Dru and guest co-host Andrew Kannegiesser to talk it out by themselves.

Dave will be back with our reguarly scheduled episode, featuring From Hell, on the 24th of this month.
